  • As the AOD (Administrative Officer of the Day) my responsibilities consist of having full authority and responsibility representing for Business Office Chief and Medical Center Director as well the following duties:
  • Responsible for handling and verifying all legal and procedures for patient's eligibility, such as enrollment, means test, verifying eligibly Veteran's status for healthcare services and humanitarians who come for treatment or code 5 emergency care
  • Responsible for checking available beds on 2west, 4west, MICU, SICU, SDU and PSY
  • Responsible for admitting, transfers and discharge patients after hours
  • Responsible for handling all Decent Affairs packets after hours and assisting all family members with completing all paperwork for decease Veterans
  • Also assist local county Coroner's office verifying patients' demographics and provide patient data to Coroner
  • Responsible for collecting patient funds and effects, who are admitted to the hospital and work with VA Police in the event where patients belong are missing and accidents involving patients occur
  • Responsible for arranging special modes of transportation via air, ambulance, commercial air, taxi, bus or independent transports when the need arises after hours
  • Responsible for administrative management and supervise if necessary, to relieve the Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) of the responsibilities not requiring a medical decision or professional judgment; offer advice to MOD and serve as witness for patient consent from NOK
  • Serve in the absence of a Nursing supervisor (WHEN), such as nurse call out or assist with code 5 and code white
  • Responsible for coordinating a resolution after hours problems concerning the medical center such as: patients at outside facilities who are on commitment papers, consent forms, and power of attorney
