My formal education is in the field of Biology, and my time at Syngenta was an engaging, rewarding experience I’ll never forget. However, in 2014 I realized that the art I was making in my garage was bringing in as much money as my science career, and I decided to follow this path and see where it lead. For 13 years I have successfully navigated creating, marketing, managing employees and partners, all aspects of a business, and it has been equally rewarding and exhausting. My desire to go into the field of teaching stems from the question of what do I want to spend the next chapter of my life doing? The ability to help shape young minds, to bring to them the information I understand in an energetic, creative, engaging way which will hopefully spark some of them to take an interest in the natural world around them.
In 2016 I was featured on the HGTV show "Smart Home giveaway" which happened in Raleigh. My work for the home, an interview with myself and the interior designer, as well as a tour of my home studio were all features of the primetime giveaway final episode, garnering my business huge amounts of attention.
