As Construction Manager for Habitat for Humanity I'm responsible for supervision of all new construction, remodeling, and renovation of homes or other assigned projects undertaken by Mitchell-Yancey Habitat for Humanity organization. Reporting to Construction Committee and working hand in hand with Board and paid staff members of MYHFH.

Additional responsibilities included to identify and evaluate potential home sites and suitability for affiliate’s basic house plan.

● Oversee entire building process, including schedules, building sites, and coordination of contractors.

● Working with Construction Committee/Chair on project budgets, materials procurement and other aspects of various projects.

● Work patiently with volunteers on site to provide on-the-job training and supervision for semi-skilled and unskilled volunteers.

Identify potential crew leaders and other skilled workers.

● Work with Volunteer Coordinator, Operations Manager and others to recruit volunteer labor needed to ensure ongoing construction.

● Demonstrated thorough knowledge of construction.

● Ensure safe work practices are followed at all times.

● Ensure tools and construction needs are on site and that permits are pulled.

● Utilize thorough understanding of all aspects of residential construction, including competence in energy efficient construction design techniques.

• Created and submitted commercial, residential, and environmental inspection reports detailing defects and unsafe installations.
• Kept up-to-date on inspection regulations, codes, ordinances and techniques by attending conferences and online continual education courses.
• Completed inspections and inspection reports of active construction projects, completed projects, as well as repair projects.
• Depending on scope of inspection I determined if work was in accordance with all applicable city, state and/or federal guidelines, as well as applicable manufacturer specifications.
• Provided information about methods and materials to correct problems and bring construction in compliance with ordinances and codes.
• I preformed over 3000 construction, residential, commercial, and environmental field inspections over the course of a decade. Maintaining on going relations with clients and referral agencies. Following each inspection I was tasked with writing a comprehensive inspection report which took up to several hours to complete, and at times spanned hundreds of pages in length.

• Scheduled subcontractors, consultants and vendors to coordinate completion of jobs and tasks.
• Coordinated required inspections with local jurisdictions to identify and quickly resolve any code concerns.
• Stayed up to date on OSHA and local safety guidelines for new construction work, and correctly reported incidents to governing agencies.
• Scheduling building inspections, public works inspections, and planning inspections to facilitate progress and compliance with governing agencies.
• Maintained tight construction standards while instructing subcontractors on quality control.
• Maintained safety standards by completing jobsite safety programs and adhering to established guidelines.
• Worked with sub contractors on company protocol and led quality assurance initiatives, maintaining high customer satisfaction ratings.
• Managed onsite safety programs and properly trained all team members to decrease injuries.
