Dear Hiring Committee,

I am excited to apply for the Youth Development Director position at Partnership with Children. As a current Community School Director with the organization since 2019, I have had the privilege of leading impactful programs that integrate academics, social-emotional support, and family engagement. This experience has deepened my commitment to our mission and equipped me with the vision, skills, and relationships needed to expand youth development initiatives at a citywide level.

In my current role, I have built strong partnerships with school leaders and community stakeholders, implemented comprehensive needs assessments and managed multidisciplinary teams to deliver programs that meet the diverse needs of our students. Prior to joining Partnership with Children, I served as Senior Program Director for the YWCA of New York City, where I developed enrichment curricula in financial literacy, health, career exploration, service learning, etc. and provided targeted case management to meet program outcomes for youth, all while overseeing grants administration, strategic planning, and parent engagement strategies.

Throughout my career—including work as a Teaching Artist and Program Manager for the Creative Arts Team at CUNY and as a national Facilitator with Living Voices—I have created programs that empower young people through education, arts, and leadership. I bring a track record of aligning program goals with organizational mission, managing budgets and compliance, and cultivating environments where youth can thrive.

I am eager to bring my leadership, program development expertise, and deep understanding of our organizational culture to this new role. I believe my ability to connect with youth, staff, and partners—while strategically scaling high-quality programming—makes me a strong fit for advancing Partnership with Children’s impact as Youth Development Director.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my experience and passion for youth empowerment can support our organization’s continued success.

Sincerely

Jermaine Small
