After graduating with my Associate Degree of Science in Nursing. May of 1994 i worked at HRMC as a graduate nurse on med surgical and oncology units. I continued with that position after passing my boards in July. After approximately a year I transfered to LDRP. While working LDRP I started doing Homecare with Hospice and Home Care of Reno County as a.second job. I don't remember excatly when I went full time Hopice and Homecare but stayed prn at LDRP. When the Hospice House was built i worked 1 day a week there and left LDRP to work full time at Hospice House. I retired November of 2022. All positions required correct medication administration and documentation of results of the medicatiin. Nursing care according to Drs orders, careplans and writing careplans. Teaching patients and families of the plan of care, ordering and obtaining correct supplies needed to provide needed care. Taking patient history and physcial on admission and teaching of discharge instructions, ordered medication and possible side effects, wound care if needed and symptoms to report to Dr if needed. As a Hospice.nurse teaching of disease process and also the dying process was very important. Medication and pain management teaching for patient and family with plan of care was also important. Reports of patient changes to Dr, our staff, the patient and family every shift as required.
