I provide patients and their caregivers instruction on the use and care of various types of medical equipment, such as Cpap, Bilevel, Pulse oximeters, Portable Oxygen systems, percussion vests and ventilators(including Astral 150 and 100's). I provide by phone follow up with patients that receive pap devices, to facilitate compliance on their devices. Ventilator patients are visited in their homes on an every 30-90 day basis, and as needed. I maintain charting on these patients, which is updated at every visit. I also communicate regularly with physicians regarding patient prescriptions, and send reports when requested.

• Provided instruction on the proper use of equipment and care procedures. Performed clinical tests such as pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vitals. Responsible for routine patient follow-up contacts based on individual needs. Operated various types of respiratory care equipment including but not limited to oxygen therapy, nebulization therapy, apnea monitoring, suctioning, and Cpap. Prepared and maintained a record for each patient containing all pertinent information, care plans, physician prescriptions and follow-up documentation. Responsible for accurate data entry. Participated in the ordering of supplies and equipment, and monitoring of inventory.

• Assessed patients’ conditions, determined requirements for treatment, and monitored response to therapy (checking vital signs, arterial blood gases, etc.). Determined the most suitable method of administering inhalants. Operated devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas, etc. Operated equipment to ensure specified parameters of treatment. Performed bronchopulmonary drainage and assisted patients in performing breathing exercises. Performed pulmonary function tests to be used by physicians. Maintained patients’ charts. Inspected respiratory therapy equipment and ordered repairs as needed. Demonstrated respiratory care procedures to other health care personnel, in-service training.

• Set up various types of equipment. Provided training and education related to the use of that equipment. Charted the initial set up and continued use of equipment. Worked on call, for the afterhours set up and troubleshooting of equipment. Performed clinical tests. Responsible for routine patient follow-up, contacts based on individual needs. Consulted with referring physicians regarding patients. Participated in ongoing education and training sessions.
