Electrical Equipment Repair Technician
KELLY AFB I KELLY AFB, US
01.1983 - 04.1994
I disassemble, repair, Overhaul and test electrical Actuators and components removed from various ACFT ENGINES (T56/T39/F100 engines)
I reassemble Actuators and Electrical equipment consisting of motors, generators, field windings, micro switches and gearbox assemblies
Overhaul include replacing micro switched electrical connector and mechanical gearboxes
Overhaul includes preforming continuity check for short on field windings, Armatures, wiring and replacing or adjusting mechanical gearboxes
Use a variety of test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, multi-meters, and specialized test sets
I use standard hand tools and measurement instruments to include micrometers, calipers, feeler gauges and special dial indicator tester to achieve specific tolerances outlines in technical manuals
Use specialized press stands to remove and install bearing, bushing and gears
Use test set mimicking ACFT DC 24 volts power to test for proper travel and actuator torque tolerances
As an apprentice I was task by Quality Assurance to perform an AUDIT on the F100 Primary Augmentation Actuator, I soon realized the scope of the task when the Journeymen left the room when they heard the word Audit
During the reassembly the technical orders call for taking measurements of 001 to 003 of end play between the BENDIX Gear ASSY and the available fixture was inadequate for taking these measurements, QA stopped the audit and gave me 2 weeks to solve this issue, I got the Blue prints for the fixture made some changes and added a rod and swivel giving it the agility to achieve the angles to take the precise measurements allowing for the audit to continue and pass the QA evaluation
I submitted a SF1000 suggestion form and it was approved by engineering
I have a total of four suggestions that were approved and adopted by DOD
