Combination Volunteer Firefighter/EMT with the Elbert Fire Protection District, where I respond in a large rural district of 182 square miles, 200+ calls a year, and approximately 90% of which are medical in nature. This environment requires me to be self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable operating with variable staffing. Holding to the utmost importance, camaraderie, excellence and good customer service to all citizens inside district and out. An experience that shaped me was a 16-hour barn fire early in my career that threatened extensive life and property if not mitigated. Following mop-up, we were dispatched to smoke investigation to then taking shifts monitoring the hay for hotspots while being available anytime to preform quality service regardless of circumstance highlighting the importance of preparedness, endurance, teamwork and communication. This experience was the inception of my passion for this career, and a 3 year pursuit of growth with the fire service.
