Keep trucks clean and stocked for that days duties, Gather materials for the days task weather it be reading work order and or verbal orders for Journeyman/ Supervisor. Climb poles to hang new services, change out transformers, make repairs to existing lines, change out street lights. Groundmans for journeymen when they are doing hot work. Help set poles with digger derrick and along with using a bucket truck to make necessary repairs. In addition would pull new underground wire to Ug padmounts, j-box. Checking for proper volatge after installing new equipment and or repairing a bad service.
Work varies from day to day but include and not limited to cleaning drains, box culverts, and create debris containment ponds with backhoes or front end loaders. Use vactor to dredge out box culverts and storm drain to prevent blockage and backup from rain and or snow. Grade city dirt roads to maintain and help the flow of traffic. Snow removal on city maintained road to insure the public safety. Operated street sweepers to clean up roads after special events and or seasonal clean up to roadways.
Ran various equipment to level land or site locations for new homes. Built roads to get to jobsite locations. Dig utilities for new home construction including water line, gas lines, fiber optics, septic tank installation, leech fields and trenches for electrical lines. Drive tandem dump trucks, septic delivery trucks, septic pumping trucks and equipment transport trucks to and from work location to jobsite.
Certified in Cpr and first Aid, Climbing school certificate, Under ground School Certificate, Knowledge in operating digger derrick, bucket truck, Duck Dawg, Dynatell cable and fault finder(Secondary), primary fault finder (Thumper), Digger on tracks, climbing poles, grounding Oh and Ug transformers, plumbing and setting poles, some knowledge on framing specs of poles(Coop Spec) Completed 1st year of Merchant Apprentice Program and passed Written and Field test
