Results-driven Vice President of Operations with a forward-thinking approach centered on company success and competitive growth. Demonstrated record of success in building successful teams and managing profitable operations.
I completed all aspects of each project including but not limited to estimating, bidding, contract award, design if required, project pricing, execution, and punch list review. These projects were both in the public and private sector, and varied from design build projects, public bids, private government procurement opportunities, business-to-business sales, restaurant chain improvement and development, professional design consulting and conceptual brand development services. In total these efforts I generated revenues of $118,597,416 while averaging a 10.58% markup. I am especially proud of this accomplishment as this work was done by myself almost exclusively in parallel with managing the operations of the entire company.
Many of our competitors were creating online stores to increase their revenues and we decided that this was needed for the growth of the company. I met with various web developers and quickly determined that the initial cost and ongoing cost could be especially high and could make maintaining a profit challenging. The cost of making the changes necessary to stay relevant and therefore competitive were the largest projected expense. Instead I hired a private developer that had a prior relationship with the company and had tasked him with assisting us in making this store internally in lieu of hiring an outside agency. This developer was very talented and brought some great ideas to the table. One of which required a radical change in thinking. Instead of writing all the code needed to produce a website, what if we spent some more time and wrote software that would write the code for us? This idea helped me to realize that by generating the code, the relative size and product count wasn't highly relevant. It took the same effort to make a website that sold 500 items as it did to sell 100,000 items or more. We decided that our advantage would be leveraging this technology and counting on the searchability of many items using the a Long Tail marketing approach in lieu of subscribing to a typical pay per click campaigns that would be typical and highly expensive. This approach worked very well, and we started receiving orders from many different businesses, and the products they purchased were items that were not found anywhere else online. This niche' proceeded to bring in orders for many years and provided millions of dollars in supplemental revenues automatically without requiring hiring any personnel to manage it.
