  • Managed multiple dogs from different breeds at one time by providing 20min - 1-hour leashed walks and other playtime exercises in nearby parks
  • Provided overnight care for clients' pets, offering peace of mind during the Covid pandemic

Researcher

Dr. Alma Rodenas-Ruano
02.2019 - 12.2020
  • Partook in a project focused on elucidating the epigenetic map of kcc2, a chloride transporter responsible for triggering inhibition, before and after the gene is turned on
  • Tasks: Dechorionated and decapitated zebrafish for their spinal motor neurons; Isolated zebrafish embryos after a successful mating and assured their development to time points of interest, RNA extractions, ChIP assays, Immunostaining, Microscope work (i.e confocal and fluorescent)

Biology and Chemistry Tutor

Fordham University
08.2019 - 05.2020
  • Conducted group tutoring sessions to help students engage in active learning and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborated with fellow tutors to develop effective strategies for addressing diverse student needs and abilities.
  • Established positive relationships with students to foster open communication regarding academic progress and goals.

Lab Supervisor

Dr. Alma Rodenas-Ruano
08.2019 - 03.2020
  • Ensured the wellbeing of 50+ zebrafish and the adequate running of their systems that maintained optimal conductivity, pH, nitrate levels, and heating.
  • Improved consistency in experimental conditions by standardizing processes across all experiments being conducted simultaneously.
  • Assisted with development of agenda and strategic plans for laboratory research work.
  • Inspected laboratory equipment to maintain good working condition for optimal results.

Researcher

Dr. Guy Robinson
05.2018 - 12.2018
  • Worked to collect and measure current atmospheric pollen
  • Project entailed researching the geographic variability of airborne pollen distribution in Pelham Park with samples taken over a 6-month period.

Research Assistant

Dr. Brian Zeglis
06.2016 - 08.2016
  • Worked on a project to develop receptor-targeting peptide probes for melanoma imaging and therapy
  • Tasks: Performed cell cultures and cell seeding; Prepped cell growth medium while maintaining an aseptic environment; Ran HPLC + FACS diagnostics

Volunteer Experience

Birthday In A Box, Co-founder and Social Media Chair, 03/2022– Present

  • This project was initially founded by the desire to give back to our local community. In

wanting to do something different, we decided we would give back to children who are

currently staying in hospitals by making their birthday memorable and unforgettable. We

are currently providing birthday boxes to infants, young boys and girls, and teens.

Feeding South Florida, 03/2024

  • Aided in supplying, packing, and organizing ● non profit fundraisers

Pop Culture Conspiracy Club, Co-founder and President, 04/2018- 04/2021

  • This club allowed students to sharpen their ability to communicate their opinions and pitch

socially accepted ideas about theories

Presentations and Publications

ARS NOVA • Fordham University • Spring 2020 and Fall 2019

Presented the research done for my project concerning the epigenetic map of the Kcc2 gene

and its inhibitory role as seen in the spinal cord neurons of zebrafish.

ARS NOVA • Fordham University • Fall 2018

Presented the research done for my project concerning the geographic variability of airborne

pollen distribution in Pelham Park in an attempt to correlate it with allergy trends seen in the

area.

The role of oxytocin and epigenetic mechanisms in mediating kcc2 expression and synaptic

inhibition in zebrafish neurons; Abstract for April 22-26, 2020 Genetics Society of America

Conference

Orthobiologic Applications of Knee Pathologies, A Scoping Review - OGME Research Poster,

04/2023

A scoping review that aimed to survey what orthobiologics are available to treat knee

pathologies in adults.

Pathologies included osteoarthritis and ligament repairs using orthobiologics such as, platelet

rich plasma, bone marrow aspirate, and mesenchymes stem cells.

An Unusual Case of Fournier's Gangrene of Unknown Etiology, Case Report - ACOS, 04/2024

A patient with unknown past medical history and source of infection presented with Fourier's

Gangrene. This case report delineates the management and treatment of necrotizing fasciitis

of the scrotum.
