Procurement Specialist I

  • As a Procurement Specialist I, I support the department mission for Procurement and Materials Management
  • All work is completed following the stringent policies of the University
  • I complete tasks by utilizing multiple software systems: ION Wave, Jaggaer (UCMarket), Contracts+ (TCM), and Banner
  • I draft specifications for bids, post and accept bids, enter, and renew contracts in our database and provide administrative support as it is needed
  • I am responsible for processing new contracts that are required for purchases, reviewing redlines and negotiating with vendors; this includes working directly with the Office of Technology on a range of software related contracts and purchases
  • I also review all contracts, bonds, insurance, and all requirements before any projects can begin
  • I have extensive knowledge of Jaggaer and routinely utilize Banner for many uses
  • As part of our processes, I monitor expenditures with vendors in Banner, as well as tracking the departmental budget and expenses
  • I review budgets in Banner to monitor encumbrances and to troubleshoot budget related purchase order issues
  • In addition to hosting training sessions, developing training videos and SOPs for campus wide use, I have trained 4 employees, teaching them how to use Banner, the Procurement systems and how to execute routine departmental tasks
