As an Admissions/Facility Coordinator, my job includes reviewing referrals and using hospital systems to get the proper information on potential residents for the facility. I review their referrals and make sure our facility can meet their needs. I understand medical terminology and speak with social workers at hospitals to coordinate admissions. I run insurance inquiries through our corporate office to see what benefits we can give each resident. I call admission meetings for all departments and nursing staff to ensure our team is aware of what is needed in order to properly care for our potential guests/residents. I take pictures of each new admit for identification purposes in their charts. I also log each referral we receive into Microsoft Excel. I also give tours of the facility to any family members or potential guests inquiring the building and any information needed.
I schedule doctors appointments for residents and make sure they have proper transportation to and from their appointments. I frequently send paperwork to doctor's offices to make sure they are up to date with patients history. Reschedule any missed appointments and transports if a ride does not show up. I post weekly transport schedules to all nursing stations and email department heads of the next weeks appointments.
I bring vendors into the facility for residents needing Podiatry, Optometry, Audiology, and Dentistry. I keep logs of all resident's being seen and what work they are needing done.
I order toner and printer supplies for all copy machines in the building. I call the copier company if needing any maintenance or repairs on the machines.
I coordinate COVID clinics and bring pharmacy into the building to schedule any COVID vaccinations for the residents.
As a receptionist at Cori Manor, I greet visitors and vendors who come into the lobby. I answer phone calls and direct them to the correct departments. We have a resident trust bank in which I open at 9 AM. During the work day, I distribute money to the residents from their accounts, and at the end of the day I close down the bank. We also are a smoking facility, so I keep all resident's cigarettes and the lighter at our front desk. I keep track of all appointments for the day and make sure nursing is aware when/if a resident leaves the building with a log book. Some days I have been pulled to help in our business office and human resources duties. I have learned how to feed residents and take care of some of their light needs. I have also helped with orientation for new employee's every Wednesday for 3 hours.
