- When I did'nt attend shows, I worked at the barn to care for the horses left on site. My duties included cleaning stalls, feeding, and either letting the horses out in the pastures or bringing them back to their stalls. The feedback I have received is that I work quickly, efficiently, and harder than most. I also work as a groom at shows, which consists of early mornings and late nights for several consecutive days. There is a lot of work that goes into getting a horse “show ready.” It requires bathing, clipping, tacking and untacking, packing their feet, and wrapping legs. If a horse is not groomed properly, it can impact the rider’s success at the competition regardless of how well the rider performs. I consider it an honor that I am one of the few team members that my trainers trust with this huge responsibility.
