Hello, my name is Jessica Harper. I'm interested in working as a teacher for Gloucester County Schools, in elementary education. I am currently a substitute teacher for the county. I married a Gloucester county native and this has been my home for fourteen years. I’m a mom of three children. I love country life and this community.
I'm interested in working at Gloucester County Public Schools as an educator. I am a positive and motivated teacher. My hobbies in life are reading and riding horses. My Grandma Bon fostered my love for learning and reading. As a kid, I would visit my grandparent’s farm in Gloucester. I competed in horse shows a great deal in my youth. I always pushed myself to excel. My passion is helping children learn and fostering a caring environment. I do like to do my personal best while encouraging others to do theres.
I have learned from my own children that each child is unique and learns differently. I am committed to learning and growing as a teacher. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University. My mother in law is a former teacher from King and Queen. She encouraged me to be a teacher and helped tutor me many times. While in college I worked while helping my mom raise my brother. Currently, I'm enrolled in UVA Wise and taking two courses to obtain my Collegiate license. I have completed one year of teaching at Petsworth Elementary. First, I was the Reading teacher for half of a year. Then, I moved to Third Grade as the Science, Writing, and Social Studies teacher. During my time at Petsworth, the fourth grade team received a GLO praise for the special education needs of many of my homeroom students. During my time at Petsworth, I was enrolled in the SURN New Teacher Academy. I'm a team player, hard worker, and enjoy making others smile. My motto in life is to " work hard, be kind, and stay humble." I'm looking forward to using my gift of teaching to help many students succeed in life. Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Jessica Harper
