As a nurse educator for the past six years and nurse for the past 18 years, I strive to teach the importance of patient-centered care. I am highly motivated, detail-oriented, and passionate about providing quality patient care in many different healthcare settings. I have excelled in clinic nursing, public health nursing, and academia. I am committed to promoting evidence-based practice and challenge myself daily to be a lifelong learner. Academia has not only allowed me to teach nursing as a profession but learn from it and my students.
In my six years as an educator, I have worked hard and taken on leadership roles in our nursing program. I started teaching the Medical Assistant Program and was the coordinator for four years. I then accepted a lead instructor role in our nursing department. I am currently the lead instructor for semester one and two in our Associate Degree in Nursing Program. I enjoy working with students in both our online and face-to-face classes.
I started my career in Urgent Care and OB/GYN Clinic nursing. I then transitioned to Public Health where I found a passion in community health. Working in the community, I really enjoyed working with children where I had the opportunity to work as a school nurse. While working at the school, I achieved my master's in nursing education. I started an adjunct teaching position with the medical assistant class while working as a school nurse. I enjoyed it so much that I took a full-time position at our community college after a year of adjunct teaching. I love working in direct patient care as well as online learning environments with students.
