The role of a registered nurse in the Neurosurgery/Neurology Intensive Care Unit is dynamic and critical, focusing on specialized care for patients recovering from procedures or experiencing acute neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, brain infections, tumors, strokes, and brain bleeds

• Key responsibilities include:
• Patient monitoring: continuously assessing neurological status, vital signs, intracranial pressure, and manage complex medical equipment
• Critical care interventions: administer emergency medications, manage pain, perform advanced treatments to stabilize patients post neurosurgery
• Collaborative care: work closely with teams to develop and implement patient specific care plans
• Patient education: education on conditions, treatments, and the recovery process
• Documentation: maintain accurate medical records and communicate effectively within the healthcare team
• Advocacy: advocate for patients' needs and provide emotional support during their critical care journey
• Emergency response: swiftly respond to changes in patient condition, implementing appropriate interventions, and collaborating with the team to stabilize the patient

• Responded appropriately to the physical, emotional and developmental needs of patients.
• Assisted patients with activities of daily living
• Helped patients move in and out of beds, baths, wheelchairs
• Collected patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements.
