Summary

I am a Special Education Teacher with proven success at Wildorado Independent School District in IEP development, workflow for IEP information, and attending and participating in ARD meetings. I also taught an amazing and diverse smalI group of Special Education Students.

As for the IEP side, I created a series of tasks and safeguards so that I had the information I needed from all parties involved, so I could write the PLAAFP, choose appropriate accommodations, and select meaningful goals with time to spare for further teacher discussion, etc. This process is 50% faster than the existing process, allowing me to handle an IEP count go from low twenties to low forties without taking more time to create them. The process is teacher-friendly, and teachers understand their responsibilities and provide what is needed for IEPs and Progress Reports. I am a firm believer in giving people ample time to turn in information, and providing reminders during the time that is allotted to them for each piece of data or information required time, I am skilled in data analysis and progress reporting, creating new insights and solutions that would have never been uncovered if we had not studied the data sets so closely. I have constructed a workflow framework that will store certain parts of each Student Information Form a teacher has submitted so year to year data can be easily collected and analyzed.

************************************************************

As an instructor and implementer of researched evidence-backed Special Education teaching strategies and curricula written by myself, I create a wonderful, safe space where students do have a say in certain decisions, hence allowing collaboration that leads to great student motivation, and timely relationship building between the student and myself. I have implemented innovative strategies that produced the desired outcome of breaking through learning barriers by researching extensively and knowing my students and how they process information the best. I try strategic evidence-based teaching strategies that I find on a consistent basis to find what helps individual students learn, while reducing frustration. I enhance the entire educational experience with known techniques (and some I find in my researh) that can teach neurodivergent individuals, no matter where they are on their learning journey.

Work History

Special Education Teacher/IEP Coordinator

Wildorado Independent School District
Wildorado, TX
08.2023 - 08.2025
  • Developed and implemented individualized education plans for students with special needs. Developed 42 IEPS this past School Year, which had doubled from the 2022-2023 School Year.
  • Assisted in the development of IEP goals based on data analysis from previous data and teacher insight and information forms.
  • Collected data and status code information from teachers, and then produced Progress Reports every 6 weeks.
  • Provided instruction in academic, communication, social skills, and life skills to special education (self-contained students, resource students, and students in the General Education setting).
  • Instructed special education classes using evidence-based practices.
  • Identified learning needs of students with disabilities and implemented appropriate interventions.
  • Researched extensively for new teaching strategies to help make my students successful. I educated myself on how the brain works, and what learning disabilities look like scientifically and in the classroom. I researched information about mental health, how to spot signs of mental illness, and how mental illness looks scientifically and in the classroom.

**All above research transpired during evenings and weekends**

  • Developed and maintained individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans to promote and build student confidence. Wrote various full-year and partial-year specialized curricula, which included Concepts of Physics, Concepts of Algebra II, Financial Literacy, Life Skills, and leveled curricula for SS, ELA, and Art at around a 4th to 5th grade level.
  • Used Unique Curriculum Software for material for Science and Social Studies, among many free online sources of supporting material including videos, pictures and age appropriate articles, games and activities.
  • Maintained accurate records of student progress towards IEP goals. Implemented tools for all other teachers to follow and use for data-based instruction, progress reporting, teacher information forms used in upcoming ARDs, and giving suggestions for new goals for students.
  • Maintained student records in accordance with district standards.
  • Helped students learn to persevere with challenging tasks and build resilience for later educational efforts.
  • Solved student behavioral issues according to building expectations and codes of conduct.
  • Collaborated with general education teachers to include students in classroom activities.
  • ** Created a teacher friendly online workflow and framework for Student Information Forms used for upcoming ARDS, Progress Report Comments and status codes, and pre scheduled email reminders for teachers about upcoming deadlines for individual ARDS and when information for progress reports was due. This process cut the teacher's reporting time of the documents in half, reduced processing time for the documents by half, greatly improved communication with teachers, and allowed information to be set up in a database so that teacher responses from multiple years for each student (Comment and Rating systems, etc.) could be accessed. Rating systems, ex. 1 being the worst and 5 being the best at turning in homework would be kept in a database where a graph could be generated to compare such students' behaviors over several years' time, producing evidence-based, crucial information and insights for use in writing new goals and addressing new proposed accommodations. This system would rate the appropriateness of current accommodations and provide insight about new accommodations, if required, by rating the effectiveness of current accommodations, giving teachers support, and providing parents with a critical look at how behavior has improved or declined, and how accommodations have kept up with their children's evolving needs.
  • Adapted curriculum materials as needed to meet individualized student needs.
  • Proactively collaborated with parents often so that learning could happen at home also; immediately informed parents of any changes to academic work performance or behavior and made quarterly "Good News" calls to parents where their students' achievements would be reported. Created rapport with parents to the point that they were comfortable contacting me about anything related to their student.
  • Collaborated closely with related services providers such as speech therapists.
  • Maintained accurate records of student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Served as an advocate for special education students within the school system.
  • Developed and maintained individualized, skill-appropriate lesson plans (up to 10 different lesson plans and variants per day.)
  • Developed interesting and interactive learning methods tailored to help students with individual needs.
  • Established and maintained dynamic collaboration based relationships with students to support learning all objectives and material. When appropriate, allowed students to make choices on the correct path to achieve an academic or behavioral goal.
  • Assisted with classroom observations, requested and handled all onboarding paperwork coming from parents and teachers.
  • Enhanced lessons using Smart Board technology, IPADs,, chromebooks, and a teacher's laptop.

  • Cultivated classroom environment focused on inclusion and growth, fostering both social and academic development. Strived to keep a classroom culture that was inviting to all, not just self-contained students. Funded and implemented alternative lighting, workspaces and furniture.
