Summary

I have been a long time employee with Chapin International. My personal drive has allowed me to work my way up through the company. I started as a temporary worker back in 2013 to eventually be hired on full time. During my time at Chapin I have been able to experience the manufacturing business in all aspects. I have worked on the floor and in the front office. From working the line and producing a quality product, to picking finished goods and sending the product out the door. I was able to learn through a hands on experience the importance of fitting each piece of the puzzle together. I was able to expand my knowledge beyond the physical labor of manufacturing when I accepted a position in Customer Service. Here I was able to see the front part of the process. How sales drives production. How the quality of production, on time, full and accurate shipments impact the customer. My current position as the Receiving Coordinator gives me a good mix of working as a clerk while being able to help on the floor. I have a strong background behind me but am always eager to learn more.

Trimmer Packer

Chapin International
Batavia, NY
01.2013 - 05.2014
  • Operated blow molders to trim flash off of 1 gallon and 2 gallon bottles. I cleaned the excess plastic off of the bottles to produce a quality unit.
  • This is a fast paced environment. I was always assigned to the lines that were running units that required more assembly and steps. These units required trimming 2 bottles at a time, sending the bottles through the cool tank, removing the bottles from the cool tank, flame treating each bottle, drilling a hole through each bottle and assembling a bulk head all prior to sending the bottle down the line to then be printed and packed. The previously stated tasks were all performed at the trimming station while the molder produced 2 more bottles each cycle in 54-74 second cycles. This required a lot of multi-tasking, focus and finding a good pattern to keep the lines moving smoothly.
  • Followed job orders to check in lines to ensure that all required components are on the line for packaging.
  • Maintained safety practices and quality control.
  • Assembled bottles and packaged bulk parts together to create finished goods.
  • Each line required at a minimum of 2 operators. For safety purposes each operator is only permitted to trim bottles in 30 minute increments. The trimmer would go down to the packing station and the packer would head up to the trimming station every 30 minutes. This built team work and time awareness. Prior to leaving the packing station of the line, I ensured that parts were restocked, and the line was caught up, clean and organized for my coworker.
