Confident and detail-oriented with dedication to organization and effective collaboration with various coworkers.

Deeply committed to optimizing success of self and others.

Skills

  • Group and Individual Instruction-I understand how interactions need to change based on the size of a group and have many skills to keep people engaged throughout a presentation
  • Online Teaching-I taught full day classes on Zoom for a year with little disruption to the learning of students who were present each day
  • Classroom Management Techniques-I have a passion for getting to know and understanding people I know that not everyone learns or interacts the same way so I see it as a challenge to learn what works with every individual and use those skills (breathing techniques, taking a walk, changing the material I am presenting on the fly, asking the individual about themselves, distraction techniques, big body movements, voice level changes etc)
  • Software Knowledge-Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Google (Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides, etc), Smartboard, Digital communication systems (ParentSquare, Class Dojo, email)
  • Special Assignments-I am currently a member of the district assessment writing team and curriculum adoption team
  • Google Slides-used daily for lesson plans including knowledge of animation and embedded content
  • Creative Thinking-currently I am in a job where I work with people who come from homes with a 99% poverty rate There can be a lot of stress and trauma where they live directly related to this statistic Sometimes this comes out in anger or violent outbursts throughout our day so I have to be quick, thinking creatively on my feet to not only keep others safe but to diffuse the situation and then try to build relationships with the individual who is struggling once they have calmed down
  • Cultural Awareness-having worked in customer service in many different places, especially in tourist towns, I have had the privilege of observing people from many different cultures One of my favorite things about working in these environments is getting to observe and interact with people from all around the world I am fascinated by other cultures and, any chance I get, I do my best to learn things about cultural traditions in a respectful manner These experiences have helped support me in my job as an educator I have students from multiple cultures and use my skills to interact with their families but to make them feel at home in our community
