Job overview

  • Assist in administration of the maintenance section.
  • Work with the assistant supervisor and supervisor to prioritize jobs that need to be completed or discus any issues that I have or have come across and also assist with budgeting roadway materials.
  • Manage crew of 10-15 employees depending on the job. I supervise and am part of all work performed, staying active in all jobs. Some jobs include but are not limited to: level up with LRAs and HMAs, base repair with stabilized materials, LRAs or HMAs, seal coat, milling, reclaiming, texturing asphalt, ditch maintenance, culvert and bridge maintenance, tree trimming and sign maintenance.
  • Respond to all types of emergencies such as flooding, accidents, ice response, spills, signs down and damage to any of TxDot's property while being on call.
  • Proficient in setting up traffic control according to the TMUCD.
  • Operate all equipment such as maintainer, loaders, rollers, rotary broom, street sweepers, oil distributors, backhoe, skid steer, dozer, 10 and 6 yard dump trucks.
  • Manage Material Maintenance Contracts in Site Manager for all materials needed for jobs such as LRAs, HMAs, emulsions, rap materials, bull rock and base materials.
  • Manage and complete all PCard transactions in PeopleSoft.
  • Complete and keep track of all timesheets for all employees, equipment and materials so that everything is charged accordingly.
  • Keep up to date inventory on all materials and keep necessary materials in stock.
  • Complete repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Train all employees on equipment, timesheets and traffic control with on the job training.
  • Keep good public relations with the traveling public, PD, SO and anyone else we do business with.

  • Performed maintenance duties on the San Antonio River Basin South of Downtown San Antonio.
  • When I started this position it was the beginning of the Mission Reach. I helped develop this section of the Riverwalk and keep it maintained.
  • Attained my herbicide license so that I could apply the herbicide to the invasive and non-native species that would grow on the river.
  • Attended training on the different species of plants.
  • Manually remove the non-native plants from the Mission reach with a weed eater or by pulling them out of the ground and removing them from the site. Another way I removed invasive species was with the slope machine.
  • Ran the AG tractor on the river to run the sprinkler system where we used the river water to water the newly planted and growing native species.
  • Mow and weed eat the length of the Mission and Museum Reach once they extended the Riverwalk further to make it safer and more enjoyable for visitors.
  • Once they added more to the trail they also added parks with landscaping and I would weed, mow and make sure the area was free of vandalism. In the event that vandalism happened I would remove graffiti, fix fences or any other issues that occurred.
  • Performed maintenance on all equipment used, such as Mules, weed eaters, lawn mowers, Mustang and the trucks.
  • Handled emergency situations such as flooding, fires and vandalism. After a flood I would go along the river and remove all debris and mud from the sidewalk and Riverbanks.

My husband and I enjoy going to the mountains and to Utah with our Jeep and exploring.  I also enjoy doing all of the mechanic work to my jeep and building it.  We would really love to relocate to Utah.
