Key Responsibilities & Skills
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for hospitalized patients in the ICU and general nursing ward, including post-surgical and critically ill patients
- Perform hourly monitoring and detailed assessments of critical patients, reporting changes promptly to the veterinary team
- Maintain patient comfort through proper husbandry, sanitary grooming, and cleanliness to support recovery and welfare
- Triage emergency room patients by obtaining vital signs and assessing urgency to prioritize care effectively
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures
- Collect, prepare, and run diagnostic samples using in-house laboratory equipment and manual techniques
- Administer medications via multiple routes, including subcutaneous injections
- Set up and manage IV fluids and constant rate infusions (CRIs)
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure readings, blood glucose levels, and ketone measurements
- Handle high volumes of client phone calls, utilizing medical records and collaborating with doctors to provide accurate information
- Perform phone triage and client communication with professionalism and empathy
- Complete thorough medical charting and assist with appointment scheduling
- Obtain high-quality diagnostic radiographs while ensuring proper patient positioning, safety protocols, and radiation protection standards
