Summary

After being a stay-at-home mom and homemaker for many years, I have come to a point where it is feasible for me to take a classified position in a school that works with my children's school holidays. After working for a year as a preschool aide at my children's school, I took some time off and started again in a small capacity last summer and fall as an assistant cross country coach in the Bellevue School District at Bellevue High School. After my success in that role, I decided I wished to seek and maintain a full-time classified position within the district that offers professional challenges utilizing interpersonal skills, excellent time management, problem-solving skills, and most importantly, a position that allows me to utilize my skills working with students with a variety of special needs. As a Classified Substitute within the district, I spent a lot of time working as a Paraeducator and, not only found that I loved the work, but also found that I was quite good at it. I could quickly form connections with the students I worked with, and I realized that this was something that I would love to do in a permanent capacity. My goal coincides with the vision of the BSD, as I strive "to affirm and inspire each and every student to learn and thrive as creators of their future world."
