Exposure to Subinhibitory Levels of Alkyltrimethylammonium Bromide Compounds Reduce Bacterial Sens

My group and I determine how exposure to C-TAB compounds a subgroup of QAC's will negatively interact with the skin microbiota. Given how an increase between the skin and these C-TAB compounds have increased over the years due to cosmetics and personal care products. We investigated the impact of persistent subinhibitory C-TAB exposure by acclimating Corynebacterium xerosis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas. We concluded that prolonged exposure could lead to the development of antimicrobial tolerance which could make products ineffective in the long run.
