Students tracked reptiles using radio-telemetry, monitored bats acoustically, searched for fish and benthic macroinvertebrate aquatic life in the pools and riffles of the War Eagle Creek and Kings River, examined the night sky, learned directly from university students and professional scientists about their research projects. An exposure to conservation literature complemented field studies, participation in Socratic Circle discussions of the writings of naturalists, and reflective journaling.
