Combat Engineers support combat forces by performing tasks related to mobility, counter-mobility, and survivability. They operate as part of a team, squad, or platoon, carrying out basic combat construction and reconnaissance missions. Their responsibilities include overseeing the construction of fighting positions and wire obstacles, directing the placement and removal of minefields, and submitting reports on both scatterable and manually emplaced mines. They execute both rapid and planned breaching operations and are responsible for supervising and operating wheeled and tracked engineer vehicles. Additionally, they calculate, prepare, and install priming and firing systems for demolition tasks. All of this is done while maintaining essential Soldiering skills to remain effective on today’s battlefield.
