In high school and NU immerse life, I have been actively participating in various public welfare activities of the school and campus organizations, striving to improve my abilities in all aspects and explore my choice of major. I joined the drama club in high school and found my favorite major in the club——Theatre. After that, I planned various club activities in the club, and became the chief director of the annual drama. At the same time, I have always paid attention to public welfare. In high school, under the leadership of my teacher, I carried out public welfare activities for the protection of stray animals and the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. In these activities, I, St. Eck, understood myself as a member of different communities responsibility, and is keen to reflect their own value through public welfare activities. I also continued to pay attention to these social issues after entering the NU immerse program. In the first semester, I completed a lot of papers on the protection of stray animals. Also in the speech at the end of the semester, I completed a speech on how to inherit intangible cultural heritage through intangible cultural heritage. These activities also helped me with my studies as part of my assignments and got good grades. In the second semester, I began to focus on some content related to my major. I studied the impact of white culture in Boston on racial inequality in the local theater industry, and completed a thesis and gave a speech. In my opinion, my various experiences have helped me better understand the major I want to study and help me learn various skills.
CalArts has always been my favorite school in my opinion because it is a highly regarded art school in my opinion. CalArts Midstate offers students a world-class education with strong faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. That's one of the reasons why I've always wanted to get into CalArts.
In addition, as we all know, one of the founders of CalArts is Walt Disney, the founder of Disney. Disney has always had its own unique theater system, exhibited in the park and in various theaters across the United States. Disney has always had its own authoritative position in both the film industry and the drama industry, including Disney's various famous IPs that are well-known around the world, and I am one I admire very much. And CalArts, as a college that has a deep connection with Disney, I believe that here I also have the opportunity to learn about the professional knowledge and real situation in this industry, which is exactly what I want to know in my college time.
Also, as an Asian and a member of the LGBT community, I think CalArts can give me a diverse community experience. During my NU immerse experience, I did an interview about racial inequality in the theater industry. Among my interviewers was an Asian student from California. She mentioned that in the theater industry in California, people of color have as many opportunities as white people to be on the stage and participate in stage productions. This is very important to me. As an Asian, I need to find my own position in the industry. I believe that in CalArts, I will have the opportunity to gradually find my own position. At the same time, I once watched a movie called "Crush". In the movie, the heroine "Paige Evans" is also a member of the LGBT group. In the movie, she also wants to enter CalArts to study the major she is interested in, just like me. His series of experiences in the movie also made me empathize. In my opinion, this also shows CalArts' acceptance and recognition of LGBT groups.
Generally speaking, CalArts is my favorite university, and I hope to have the opportunity to study in CalArts. I think it will definitely help me improve my profession a lot and help me to enter this industry.
