In addition, the federal government health care reform will likely include additional disclosure restrictions, perhaps in addition to or in the form of the Physician Payments Sunshine Act.
To respond to these requirements, AstraZeneca pharmaceutical are developing aggregate spend solutions that are specific to their company’s needs based on their current state environment. Although AZ has the capability to meet state reporting requirements, the process is very labor intensive and is therefore not flexible or scalable to meet additional states or pending federal legislation.
AZ is looking to make investments in an Aggregate Spend Solution that increases their capabilities to comply with existing and potential legislation and to monitor and manage internal spend caps. This must be implemented by the end of October 2010.
