  • As a nurse supervisor I am responsible for management of the RMYA Nurse’s office on our Boerne campus. I am accountable for the direct health and medical care coordination for at-risk children assigned by the State of Texas Health and Human Service Agency to the 50-bed residential treatment facility.
  • I deliver direct care utilizing the nursing process, assessment skills, individualized healthcare plans, and established facility protocols.
  • Responsible for upgrading the original health education program and for structuring it to provide staff with resources to support positive results in health-related behaviors and practices. Educate staff through monthly courses on topics of First Aid/CPR certification, medication administration, psychotropic medication, physical distress. I am a preceptor for students in the Health Science pathway in high school.
  • Lead administrator for the RMYA facility’s Psychiatric Clinic located at the Boerne campus. Coordination includes scheduling with parents and/or guardians, case workers, state program direct care staff, administrators, behavioral support specialists and the medical team.
  • Establish procedures and perform medical screening, review of vaccine records and assessments to identify potential health issues. Collect and maintain reports, records, including clinic records and student health records such as immunization, medication administration, and individual student treatment records.
  • Audits of records under my supervision have resulted in positive results for the RMYA internal controls with respect to medication management involving prescriptions for all youth in our residential treatment center.
  • Responsible for supervision of the medical coordinator and medical transport specialist team on the Boerne campus.
