Active Posting Behaviors’ Effects on Body Dissatisfaction and SelfObjectification of Female DouYin Users (06/2023 - 09/2023)

Adviser: Prof. Gondoli Dawn 

- Explored social media's impact on body image and sociocultural models of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating. 

- Wrote a research proposal on the effects of active posting behaviors on body dissatisfaction and self-objectification of female TikTok users. 

- Explored the moderation effects of the proportionality of appearance-based posts and concomitant attitude toward posting. 

- Proposed using bivariate correlations and hierarchical multiple regression analyses with follow-up simple slope analyses for any significant interactions between my independent variables.


Longitudinal Research on Eating Disorders (12/2022 - 2024)

Adviser: Prof. Zhang Danhui

- Worked with Professor and graduate students to participate in a longitudinal study to investigate the dietary habits and mental states of eating disordered individuals. 

- Recruited 25 ED participants and assisted researchers to design questionnaires, collected data, and conducted multiple regression analysis.


Effects of COVID-19 Lockdown on Eating Disorders: An Overview of Risk Factors and Clinical Implications (06/2022 - 08/2022)

Adviser: Prof. Murphy Robin 

- Wrote a literature review on the impacts of COVID-19 lockdowns on eating disorder symptomatology. 

- Practiced evaluating the strengths and limitations of sources and methodologies.

Additional Information

Team Leader • Translation Group for Research Papers about Mental Wellbeing (2022.6 – Present)

- Initiated the project to promote social awareness regarding Eating Disorders(EDs) and advocacy for

mental health well-being to the public and EDs patients and their families.

-Led a team with 20 members to translate 40+ English research on eating disorders into Chinese and

posted our works on Weibo for public reviews, and each post received 1,000+ views.


Founder • Online Eating Disorders Support Group (2021.9 – Present)

-Established a WeChat support group for people with active eating disorders and those in recovery.

-Monitor group discussions, design questionnaires to track members’ changes, and chat with members

individually to offer recovery strategies.

-Successfully helped nearly 300 patients so far.
