I took a "gap decade" after my second year at Duke to go work at two education startups in China. The first one was acquired, and the second one (where I was the founder) was a small-sized operation generating very good cash flow. After years of working in the education/Ed-tech industry, I realized I was not that passionate about teaching and have found a new passion for software engineering including AI and machine learning. Since returning, I have maintained a 3.98235 cumulative GPA. I am looking to hone my software engineering skills at the moment to realize my next startup ideas.
