My duties as a utility construction worker include performing hand or machine excavation for the construction, repair, and maintenance of electrical ducts, vaults, handholes, and streetlight bases. Setting up traffic control for utility construction sites as well as ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various hand and power tools, including jack hammers, drills, hydraulic speed shoring, asphalt gads, and concrete saws. Performing skilled carpentry, masonry, backfill, compaction,and asphalt work incidental to the construction, repair, and maintenance of underground and trenched electrical distribution systems. I operate a variety of heavy trucks, including dump trucks, hauling heavy equipment on flatbed trailers, and operating lifting devices for the installation of underground electrical equipment and facilities. Maintaining clean and organized job sites for a safe workplace for all employees as well as fostering and maintaining positive working relationships in a diverse workplace, my duties also include the safe and timely completion of each job within the requirements for the project, following all rules, regulations and procedures. I am quick to adapt to changing project requirements, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness in adjusting schedules and priorities accordingly. I oversee daily site operations keeping records, logging work done, and monitoring equipment and tools for use and maintenance to ensure safety and efficiency. I train and mentor new crew members and provide support to other skilled trades.

As a cement mason apprentice I'm proficient in setting forms for many various kinds of concrete pours paving, sidewalks, curb and gutter. I'm able to read grade hubs to establish grade and adjust vaults, manholes, and catch basins. I also perform various heavy labor tasks such as lifting heavy objects regularly, performing hand excavation, using many kinds of hand and power tools.
