Work History

Graduate Research Assistant

Underwood Lab
Austin
09.2024 - Current
  • Conducted experimental and computational research on two sponsored projects: Microwave Breakdown Between Dielectric Resonators – Office of Naval Research (ONR) and Metamaterials-Embedded Thermal Protection System for Mitigating RF Blackout in Hypersonic Environments – Joint Hypersonic Transition Office (JHTO) & University Consortium for Applied Hypersonic (UCAH).
  • Presented findings at the UCAH Fall Research Forum in Alexandria, Virginia.
  • Designed and modeled experimental components in CAD (Fusion 360).
  • Executed laboratory experiments, collected and analyzed data, and authored technical reports for ONR and JHTO/UCAH deliverables.
  • Collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of graduate researchers to refine testing methodologies and improve data accuracy.
  • UT Austin

Aerodynamics Lead

AIAA Design Build Fly
Boulder
08.2023 - 05.2024
  • Lead the Aerodynamics team in designing and modeling the wings using XFLR5 and OpenVSP for a competition RC plane.
  • Completed trade studies and preliminary sizing for wings, control surfaces, and tail.
  • Contributed to write ups and proposals sent to AIAA for our team’s admission into competition.
  • Coordinated between the different leads and Project manager on design requirements, materials, and designs.
  • Taught intermediate aircraft design and aerodynamics to members of the aerodynamics sub team.
  • Lead weekly meetings as part of a project of creating an aircraft for competition and development of newer members to the club.
  • CU Boulder

Senior Project – Lunar Digging Robot

CU Boulder
Boulder
08.2023 - 05.2024
  • Member of the mechanical sub-team tasked with designing, prototyping, manufacturing, and testing the structure and digging subsystems for a lunar digging robot.
  • Designed and assisted in manufacturing parts intended to connect guiderails to the system, attach the digging system to structure, and store and protect electronics equipment.
  • Created fatigue and force models to outline the expected behavior of the digging system during operation.
  • Completed recurring meetings with our faculty and company sponsors (JPL) and prepared key engineering presentations for both a faculty board and our industry sponsors throughout development which were given in both oral and written formats.

Aircraft Design

CU Boulder
Boulder
08.2023 - 12.2023
  • Designed, modeled, and iterated a supersonic ground support vehicle iterating upon vehicles like the A-10 Warthog and F-111 for improved performance in the ground support role.
  • Documented design process in a self-made website which can be viewed at: https://ucb.digication.com/bachedgehog/home.

Chemistry and Engineering Intern

E-Flux Soil and Gas LLC.
Fort Collins
05.2018 - 08.2023
  • Assisted in the design and building of an automated camera/UV light system to monitor Light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) contamination from oil spills. The system was successfully field tested by the USGS in Bemidji, MN.
  • Built CO2 traps and completed the analysis of CO2 traps returned from sites, such as an area of an oil spill. This included making acid, graphitization, and other analyses in a lab setting.
  • I logged and analyzed LNAPL samples from the USGS field test of the camera-UV light system.
  • Used data from the logged samples to compare camera images to characterize LNAPL distribution in the ground at the USGS experiment site.
