Managed the Aging and Disabilities Services for the city.

Duties included managing the senior multi-service center and its programs, including case management, senior nutrition, transportation, recreation, RSVP and HICAP; budget and contract monitoring and reporting; program development; hiring and supervision of staff; public relations; collaboration with Board of Directors and community stakeholders. Directly responsible for twenty seven paid staff members.

Managed a multi-service center that provided social services and recreational programs for the city's diverse, non-English speaking older adult and disabled populations.

Supervisory responsibilities included: hiring, training and supervision of eighteen paid staff, fifteen para-professionals, and two student interns. Direct services to older adults, disabled persons and their caregivers included: information and referral, intake and evaluation and psychotherapy. Management responsibilities included: grant writing, program planning, implementation and review; contract management, budget compliance and statistical reporting to multiple funders.

Managed a social/recreational program for older adults living in residential care facilities.

Responsibilities included: hiring, supervision and training of staff; budget compliance and statistical reporting; community outreach to facility owners; design and implement on-going education workshops for residential facility managers. Directly responsible for twelve paid staff.

Provided care management to older/disabled adults and their caregivers. Responsibilities included: Intake and evaluation, weekly home visits, assistance with life planning, coordination of care, assistance with medical insurance/community resources, patient advocacy, interviewing potential caregivers, crisis intervention, on-call coverage, and grief counseling.

Managed a unique 49 bed facility/non-profit foundation for Progressive Elders, founded in 1924.

Responsibilities included: daily functional and financial management of the facility; hiring, supervision and training of twenty staff members; oversight of medical/health/psychosocial needs of the residents; regular oral presentations to community groups to recruit residents, financial supporters, news media, and affiliated stakeholders. Worked closely with the Board of Directors to preserve and further the Foundation's viability.

Managed an international project: LA-Jerusalem Cooperative Cities involving neighborhood recruitment, training and use of volunteers to meet the social service needs of diverse, non-English speaking Hispanic, African-American, Jewish, and Arab older adults in East LA and South Central LA, and in Jerusalem and East Jerusalem, Israel.

Responsibilities included: program development, implementation and monitoring; hiring, supervision and consultation to site staffs, contract compliance; collaboration with social service agencies Watts Labor Community Action Committee and International Institute of LA; community outreach and coordination of international and inter-community exchange activities.

Geriatric Case Worker for a multi-service center for older adults. Responsibilities included: intake and crisis intervention, home evaluations, care management, information and referral, crisis intervention, individual psychotherapy with older adults and adult children caregivers, and supervision of paraprofessional case aides.

Completed a one year post-graduate clinical fellowship program. Conducted crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, individual and family psychotherapy with people of all ages. Co-lead a young adult support group.

Provided crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, community referrals and group psychotherapy for service-connected veterans.

Provided short-term individual and group psychotherapy to service-connected veterans coping with diagnoses including PTSD, and acute psychosis.

Provided service coordination to children in protective custody.

Completed intensive six-week crisis and suicide intervention training; manned the Suicide Prevention Hotline and walk-in center.
