Registered Dental Hygienist

US Army-Dencom
El Paso, TX
02.2010 - 02.2012

As a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH), the mission of the RDH is to make certain soldiers are deployable, providing each soldier with an exam, x-rays and a cleaning. Once home from deployment, the process is to ensure their health had not declined.

* Assess them for periodontal diseased and marking them into them appropriate class-I through IV. Soldiers could not be deployed if they were marked Class III or VI. Once this was encountered, the new goal was to move their status to Class I or II and remedy any issues, if possible and as soon as possible, prior to the deployment date. This process was performed on four brigades, anywhere from 1,500 to 4,000 soldiers.

* Created the treatment programs and official protocol for acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (ANUG) patients, working with the patients consistently for multiple visits offering care and patient education, as well as counseling to end the ANUG cycle.

* Conducted dental technician training and continuing education in oral health subjects for enlisted and civilian staff in dental hygiene.
