With the exception of a few years working in cardiologists' offices, I've been working in Cardiac Cath lab or Cath Lab recovery since 1992. I spent 5 years as a travel Cath Lab nurse, which was the best learning experience. But after 5 years, I was ready to settle in one place, so I choose San Jose, and became permanent staff at Kaiser Permanente. In October of 2018 I decided it was time to come back home to Michigan where I still had a home. My mom, who is 80, was developing problems, so I was going to take a short career break to help her, but then Covid happened and I decided to not work so I could continue to assist her safely. Now I'm ready to go back to work, but I need to work from home at this time.
My responsibilities included overseeing all the testing in the cardiology clinic- including the techs and nurses that performed the testing. These tests include:
EKG
Various forms of Stress Tests
Echocardiogram
Holter Monitor
Traveled to multiple cities in the 5 years I traveled. Performed all the tasked mentioned in my Kaiser Cath Lab job description. I will say, the main thing I learned from traveling is flexibility- and it has served me well throughout the rest of my career.
I performed all the duties required in the cath lab including scrubbing, circulating, and monitoring.
