86 the Barrier is an English-as-a-new-language learning program originally designed for internal use in the hospitality industry, and as of 2023 remodeled to specifically serve Spanish speaking asylum seekers from South and Central America and the Carribbean. Guided program through multiple iterations and curriculum updates, trained and led team of 5 bilingual educators, secured funding, and ensured the physical and cultural safety of learners during their development of a foundational understanding of the English language.
Featured speaker/educator on numerous panels and in workshops, seminars and a national tour across the corporate, artistic, and hospitality spaces, with a major focus on the storytelling of building and maintaining equitable, creative, authentic spaces.
Organized, trained and led 100+ community members from across the United States to advocate to federal lawmakers for pandemic resources from May to November of 2020 via phone banks and messaging campaigns; successfully executed meetings with chiefs of staff and directors from Senate offices to demand further action in resourcing the underserved in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic; organized a roster of community leaders, culminating in launching a field team to provide voter support in contested precincts in Georgia on Election Day.
"Our Vote, Our New York" was a city-wide multilingual campaign to educate voters on the function of ranked choice voting in the 2021 mayoral primary, New York City's first ever significant election using a ranked choice system. Secured private funding to resource street teams of storytellers and advocates from within personal community to provide written and verbal information to voters ahead of the designated voting period.
