Main Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a liaison, consultant, trainer and subject matter expert for Kent State University's main scholarship platform - ScholarshipUniverse.
  • Oversees and leads the entire onboarding and implementation process of the scholarship software, ScholarshipUniverse, for Kent State University and its respective clients and stakeholders, including more than 110 individual departments, colleges, campuses, and areas with more than 200 scholarship administrators and staff members across the university.
  • Manages implementation activities, including time commitment, organization of help sessions for clients, creation of various training video tutorials, procedural documents and handouts, and other vital resources related to the implementation and onboarding of the scholarship system.
  • Work collaboratively with Ellucian client partners and Kent State Information Technology support staff to implement solutions and coordinate integration between ScholarshipUniverse and Student Management Software database (Banner). Work on mapping fields, Student Information System (SIS) data, etc.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes to the project management processes.
  • Communicates appropriate updates and beneficial information with all parties involved in the implementation process.
  • Responds to client issues, researches and provides appropriate resolutions.
  • Provides continuous coaching and feedback to project team members, as well as individual members of the implementation group.
  • Collaborates with Kent State University – Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid leadership team in strategic and developmental planning and training for team members and monitoring processes and progress towards goals.

Other Duties:

  • Analyzes and evaluates financial viability of students and/or families, provides advice and counsel regarding available financial aid and scholarship opportunities, eligibility requirements and application process.
  • Oversees scholarship awarding for over 65 foundational (funded through generous gifts and donations by family foundations) and institutional scholarships offered by the University Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.
  • Reviews and assesses eligibility of applicants for scholarship opportunities,
  • Determine eligibility of Federal Student Aid for individual programs and make awards and appropriate adjustments to students’ accounts.
  • Reviews and assesses students’ financial aid eligibility based on their Cost of Attendance, the estimated total cost of attending college in each year, as well as the maximum amount that student can request in funding.
  • Trains and serves as an operational resource to other staff and/or students, as appropriate; supervises staff and conducts administrative/extensive training regarding general scholarship administration.
  • Oversees National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) full tuition scholarships offered by Kent State University to Akron and Portage County graduating High School seniors. Attends scholarship awarding ceremony to represent Kent State University.
  • Assists with scholarship fund creations and set up in preparation for future awarding.
  • Analyzes, processes, and identifies errors in scholarship awarding, ensures aid offers are posted accordingly onto student’s accounts.
  • Serves as a liaison and works collaboratively with Kent State University Foundation, a not-for-profit entity that receives gifts on behalf of the university, manages and invests those funds, and administers them in accordance with donor wishes.
