Driven by a passion for community and leadership, I leveraged my role at Camp Stella Maris to foster an inclusive environment, enhancing my team leadership and organizational skills. As a dedicated volunteer and coach, I've successfully organized events and practices, demonstrating a positive attitude and efficiency. My experiences have honed my ability to inspire and lead diverse groups effectively.
I have come to camp for three summers as a regular camper and fell in love as soon as I arrived. Not to be dramatic, but I think the best moments of my childhood were spent at summer camp. I also participated in the LIT program in the summer of 23 and was a CIT last summer and was then hired for one week at the end of the summer. Because of the impact the "magic" at camp had had on me, I was excited to be able to pass this on as a counselor and CIT. I debated if I would take the position as a counselor at the end of summer as that week was supposed to be dedicated to my college essay writing but it turned out to be valuable because I then wrote my college essay about the personality growth I experienced as a camp counselor. My confidence grew and being able to work with people of various ages and backgrounds has proved to be a great learning experience. I believe I was able to foster a fun, inclusive environment.
Through the service organizations at my high school, I have participated in various service events. I helped with my school's blood drive by encouraging/assisting people in signing up. I was a part of the Link Crew which mentors freshmen in their transition to high school. I volunteered this winter, at the town of Webster holiday light festival by greeting those who met with Santa and setting up holiday decorations. I served pasta and interacted with elderly citizens at the Masonic Temple in Webster. For my senior project, I am currently planning a trip for students to have the opportunity to be reading buddies with city school district children.
I and another student organized and ran multiple two-hour practices for girls ages kindergarten to fifth grade for consecutive Sundays during the winter. I also have been involved in assisting in running my high school's youth clinic and other private youth camps during the summer.
I am very involved with the art department at my school and participate in various service projects throughout the year. Our biggest fundraiser is our empty bowls project, where we create bowls to sell. The profits from the ceramic bowls are then donated to our school's food cupboard and the town of Webster's food bank. I assisted my teacher directors in organizing bowl-making and selling events.
I liaised with my head coach to discuss collective insights on chemistry while working together to co-lead the team. I love lacrosse and it is exciting to be able to organize team practices and lifts. It was very validating to learn my teammates had voted me for this position.
I love babysitting and enjoy the presents of children!
