Works as a full time staff nurse in Radiation Oncology, out patient setting, hospital based location. We care for patients on consult or undergoing radiation therapy. This involves comprehensive assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation, triage, symptomatic management, nursing education, starting peripheral IV access, blood draws, accessing ports, medication administration (orally, intravenously, intramuscularly, etc), inserting foley catheters, wound dressing, assisting during procedure/exams and anesthesia cases, monitoring and recovery post anesthesia. Participates with team discussion and coordination of patient care. Acts independently with critical thinking and makes emergent actions/interventions as needed. Demonstrates excellent time management skills, often multi-tasking. Establishes and develops professional strong rapport with patients and families to foster trust, open communication and healing.
