My position as a lead scrub tech on OB is to be an extension of help to our OB physicians. This includes my position in the operating room as a scrub tech. This role requires taking accountability for instruments used during a procedure, assuring that I can pre-anticipate the surgeons needs, and making
the top priority to reduce surgical site infections by following high standards of sterility.
I also provide assistance to the physicians at vaginal deliveries & additional minor procedures for babies.
My role as a lead tech, I order all supplies for OB that our central service department does not provide. These supplies have brought on challenges since COVID but I have been able to navigate through these times & what still continues to be an issue to find comparable products, keep cost effectiveness at the forefront of my brain to order quality products to care for our patients safely.
I also, provide assistance during our in house hospital safety inspections, by listening to ways we can make improvements & work to make sure we are meeting the standards set by JACHO.
I have many projects I am currently working on that help with compliance with our surgical instruments & also working closely with our billing specialist to assure we are billing out all of the supplies.
Most things surgical are brought to my attention even things related to nursing to assure a full cycle of closed loop communication.

Accomplishments
I work with our family medicine team over the last 4 years volunteering my time to insure our youth can be inspired by the work we currently do. Encouraging the youth to look at a career in the medical field by bringing in surgical supplies and PPE to inspire conversations while learning how to put on surgical attire and setting up a surgical field. These supplies come from an association that helps with volunteer projects.
