Maritime pilots assist the captains of foreign vessels through local waterways. My jobs is captaining the crew vessel for pickup and drop off of the pilots.

Responsibility's:

making sure there are safe conditions for the pilot when embarking and disembarking the ladder. communicating effectively with all crew on board,launch tower and pilots to insure the boarding is preformed safely. standing watch with assistance of the deck hand to see hazards of navigation an other vessels.

being ready at for all types of weather conditions that may arise. and maintaining composer in adverse conditions some of which as follows, fog, heavy rain, and extreme sea conditions in both day time and night time hours. coming to the aid of any vessel in distress within our working area. working on launch vessels for service and repair. checking buoys after storms to insure that they are in the correct position according to nautical charts.

the duties and responsibility of a deck hand are cleaning the launch vessel off after each run, line handling for docking and undocking, standing watch, maintaining and repairing vessels and assisting the pilot while he/she is out on deck for safety.

operating security vessel in front of naval ships with the Norfolk and portsmouth Police Department.

Responsibilities: guarding the naval ships from unauthorized vessels. radio communication with Nasco security.
