Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) is the largest and most advanced medical center and medical training platform within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), supported by 8500 staff members and comprised of a 483-bed tertiary referral center, six outpatient clinics and the DoD’s sole Level 1 Trauma and Burn Center. Providing care for over 240,000 military beneficiaries living in the greater-San Antonio area.

• Oversaw approximately 4400 medical staff and all associated medical staff by-laws, clinical policies, quality of care provided, medical staff compliance, provision of care, clinical risk management and credentialing/privileging for all licensed independent practitioners.
• Developed and implemented all clinical policies, procedures and operations during COVID-19 pandemic, including screening, visitation, return to work, available services, contingency staffing and resource allocation.
• Served on Board of Directors for San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium, responsible for the training of over 700 U.S. military officers in 36 graduate medical education and 24 graduate allied health education specialty programs in San Antonio.
• Named as Acting Deputy Commanding Officer during times of transition.

Primary Care Operations in U.S. Army Medicine supports a beneficiary population of over 1.4 million at 32 hospitals and 147 clinics in four world-wide regional health commands.

• Chaired the U.S. Defense health Agency Primary Care Clinical Community, responsible for direction and leadership during the evolving transition of the U.S Military Health System control to the U.S. Defense Health Agency.
• Developed and implemented enterprise-level policy to promote a patient-centered and team-based system of healthcare focused on providing comprehensive, coordinated, safe and accessible care.
• Revamped the Soldier system of primary care resulting in an program of algorithm driven care including a framework for training, quality and safety enabling non-physicians to practice at the highest scope of certification.

The U.S. Army Regional Health Command – Atlantic oversees clinical operations in two medical centers, six community hospitals, 14 health clinics, and 11 soldier transition units, where over 22,000 personnel deliver healthcare to over 588,000 beneficiaries in 26 states with an annual operating budget of $2.5 billion.

• Provided leadership, direction and organizational management to clinical services including virtual health/telehealth, behavioral health, primary care, quality/safety, patient administration, disability evaluation and managed care.
• Enhanced and drove key initiatives to improve regional access and satisfaction measures by almost 25%.
• Developed and led collaborative strategy to mitigate critical staffing shortages across the region to achieve 20% improvement over prior years.

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital’s Executive Medicine Department provides secure, confidential primary care and inpatient services for U.S. leaders, including general officers of the armed services, eligible senior government executives and their eligible family members.

• Supervised all clinical staff, providing continuous professional development opportunities and training to maintain and strengthen competencies.
• Optimized care model and workflows to improve efficiency and expand enrollment by 30% and increase patient satisfaction to over 98%.

Fort Belvoir Healthcare Network is a multidisciplinary healthcare facility serving 27,000 enrolled beneficiaries, providing primary care, orthopedics, optometry, OB-GYN, physical and occupational therapy with onsite pharmacy, radiology and laboratory services.

• Oversight and direction to staff of 300 employees and supervision of 50 privileged providers.
• Devised and implemented sweeping improvements resulting in facility’s best ever performance in access, provider continuity and patient satisfaction measures.
• Selected as the military project officer to coordinate and oversee the transition of a highly contentious $300 million contract affecting delivery of care to 46,000 enrolled beneficiaries.
