My name is Joel Mushi Rakgotho, and I am a dedicated Army Reserve Petroleum Supply Specialist currently serving at the 483rd TC Battalion 711th CO (SEAPORT OP) in Concord, CA. I have always had a strong interest in commercial driving, and my background in this field has only grown throughout my career. From being an over-the-road driver to training others and working as a local CDL driver, I have gained valuable experience that has shaped me into the skilled professional I am today. Aside from my passion for commercial driving, another major aspect of my life is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Christian Studies at Grand Canyon University. This education not only expands my knowledge but also strengthens me spiritually. However, above all else, what drives me most is my desire to serve and protect our country through law enforcement. It was this motivation that led me to join the army and continue pushing myself towards new challenges. I am now seeking an opportunity where I can utilize both my skills as well as military background effectively while continuing with fulfilling work within these fields.

As a volunteer at City Year, I dedicated 1000 hours to working with identified students both one-on-one and in small groups. My main focus was on developing literacy and math skills through tailored learning activities for each student. I also played a key role in creating a positive classroom environment by implementing behavior management systems and promoting social-emotional skills throughout the day. Additionally, I provided attendance coaching and collaborated with teachers to track individual student progress using City Year's data system. As an active member of my team, I helped create an engaging classroom space through various activities such as leading warm-ups and energizers, making informative posters/videos, etc., while proudly representing City Year by wearing our uniform with its logos.
