Joey Maben

Multifaceted BFA undergraduate studying 2D Animation & Story Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Current projects include Senior Capstone Thesis as well as the ongoing pitch deck for its expanded storyline. Reliable Senior Resident Advisor with experience in administrative office settings as well as community-facing spaces. Possesses strong interpersonal communication skills, adept at event planning and getting work done in a timely, efficient manner.

LEADERSHIP

• Founder & co-leader of SAIC Solidarity Network, a student group committed to mutual aid, restorative justice work, and connecting our peers to the broader Chicago community.
• With Solidarity Network, I help coordinate on-campus community building events, educational teach-ins, and collaborations with other mutual aid groups in the area.

PROJECTS

• Currently working on my Senior Capstone Thesis film (titled The Collie), a 4-6 minute 2D animated work projected to be finished by Spring 2026 and screened at the Gene Siskel BFA showing.
• Pitch deck and screen tests for The Collie can be viewed in the animation/storyboarding sections of my portfolio.

SAIC SITE Exhibition: School as a Function of Empire. Oct 30-Dec 4.

• Had multiple works featured in the on-campus, student-curated School as a Function of Empire exhibition, including a piece titled "Core Values" which incorporated 2D, hand drawn animations projection mapped onto cloth rectangles.
• Designed the flyer + all promotional materials and acted as the primary marketing coordinator for the show.
