I have enjoyed sports from a very early age, and I have lived and died with the Dallas Cowboys for many years. While football is my favorite sport, when I was growing up I dreamt of playing professional baseball and being a superstar like Willie Mays.
I have had the honor of coaching all of my sons in their respective sports. The bond that develops from that type of activity is indescribable, and the immense joy and pride you feel when your son gets the winning hit or sinks the winning basket is one of the things that makes being a parent the best job there is.
I have also had the privilege of coaching many young men in a wide variety of youth sports. I have coached for both the Optimist Club of Arlington, and also the YMCA's for both Arlington and Fort Worth respectively.
One of the greatest thrills and challenges of my life was being a coach for a football team in the USFL. We were fortunate to win the league championship, and the camaraderie that goes along with that type of experience is unforgettable.
I have had the good fortune to travel around this wonderful planet of ours, and the joy of meeting new people and learning about new cultures only goes to show me that deep down we are all one people.
Lastly, one of my keenest interests is in the field of astronomy. I am forever amazed by the new discoveries that occur almost on a daily basis now, and then to consider our place in the entire universe is truly humbling.
