Summary

Corporate Scientist developing chemical and materials innovations across coatings, adhesives, and optics. Advanced 10+ projects in solventless processing that eliminated regulated emissions and waste, and created 10+ products that supported large-scale commercial sales. Holds 40+ patents and translated inventions into 3M VHB technology and product platform with over 50 products developed based on my initial patented invention utilizing ultraviolet light to photopolymerize acrylic resins without solvents.

Likewise, the 3M Brightness Enhancement Film product line was the product of my invention to produce high quality Fresnel type optical films with UV curing of proprietary oligomers I developed and patented.

The flexographic printing process is used in in many markets including packaging materials (labels, films, etc.) and for decades relied on solvent processed printing plates. I devised, developed and patented a solventless flexoplate manufacturing system using thermal energy only and produced plates ready for use on the printing presses in minutes, not hours while at 3M. 3M decided to

exit the printing market including my project and I orchesttrated the sale of the technology to DuPont - a market leader- and worked with them for over a year to

translate the project to commercial levels. It became the DuPont CyrelFAST product platform with over 1500 installations in print shops worldwide.

Work History

Consulting Engineer / Chemist

Robertson Fuel Systems
Tempe, AZ
10.2012 - 04.2016

My background in high performance composites - developed at 3M- translated to helping Robertson

develop a new product line of accessory fuel tanks for military and civilian helicopters. The bonding resins and coatings, including thermoset chemistry, used to bond woven nylon fabrics into mulilayered fuel resistant structures into fuel tanks were among my

contributions to this successful effort.

Consulting Engineer / Chemist

Sion Power Corporation
Tucson, AZ
11.2007 - 02.2009

Sion Power had a serious issue with the manufacturing process used to manufacture their proprietary Lithium-sulfur batteries in that they could not scale up the anode manufacturing process they had developed to the point of hiring me. I worked on this project for about 15 months

that included reconfigurng the anode manufacturing process, including materials, to get the project back on the rails leading to success in scale-up to manufacturing. From that effort, I am co-inventor of 11 patents issued to Sion Power.
