  • Achieved Master Mechanic title via Tyson Maintenance Training program (2018). Position entailed 12-hour shifts assisting crew members in the troubleshooting and repair of Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Electrical systems using the correct hand/power tools and proper assistance as well as following the proper OSHA and FSQA Regulations, LOTO Procedures, Confined Space procedures and PPE requirements to ultimately achieve the best possible production run in the safest and most effective manner possible while maintaining minimal downtime and product loss.
  • This often meant communicating and coordinating with the production supervisors, FSQA team members and OSHA officials to decide the best time for repairs to be made to achieve the goals fore mentioned.
  • When applicable work orders would be written and turned in to be scheduled for repair at a later, more suitable date. Other times the work was required to be done immediately.
  • Furthermore, other duties of this position also required carrying a radio and responding to a vast range of maintenance issues which include - wiping down condensation, replacing vinyl curtains, repairing safety chains on cat walks, changing valves on sinks as well as replacing the plumbing, replacing chem grade on catwalks, welding cat walk handrails, repairing roll up doors, fabricating meat hooks for production, assisting with product jams and box jams, hanging plastic due to leaks, unclogging of drains.
  • Fabrication and installation of drip pans. Replacement or repair of hydraulic motors, DCVs, hoses, valves or coils. Replacement or repair of pneumatic fittings, hoses, control pedals/levers and valves.
  • Wiring and installation of 480v motors when needed as well as lights and fans. Testing and replacing bad fuses/heaters/motor starters if needed. Running of new conduit and electrical wire to new machines or replacing old burnt up wire.
  • Replacement or adjustment of photo eyes. Repairing or replacing start/stop buttons, switches and/or receptacles if broken. Replacing contacts for buttons and switches if bad.
  • Reinstallation of belts after being cleaned. Adjusting tension for belts on conveyor systems when required. Replacing broken belt pieces or pins. Repairing roller beds.
  • Fabricating new shafts for conveyor systems using a lathe. Adjusting plastic sprockets on conveyor system, replacing them if broken. Fabricating and installing whole conveyor systems and drives.
  • Adjusting/replacing chains, sprockets and/or taper lock bushings on drive systems if need be. Replacing slider rail/meat rail for the chains that pull hogs through the building as needed.
  • Welding where needed, using proper permits and procedures. Mainly TIG, some stick. Repairing/Replacing augers, shear bolts or stub shafts. Various Pump rebuilds.
  • Shut down of steam to break lines and unclog debris then reassemble line and turn steam back on. Operation of forklifts and mules to move combos or fetch heavy parts from sheds, occasionally used to dump trash into dumpsters.
  • Assisting production team members by changing mule batteries when needed. Performing Preventative Maintenance such as greasing and changing oil on specified equipment as assigned in daily paperwork as well as visually inspecting drives and framework when both stopped and running to find any abnormalities that need addressed and corrected before the next production run.
  • Hanging of trollies. Nightly tear downs of assigned production equipment when the run is over. Set up of production equipment one day a week.
  • Attended safety meetings at start of every shift where daily paperwork would be received. Required compliance training that was completed via videos and a computer program once a month.
