My primary goals as a band director are to provide my students with quality, personalized instruction, as well as create a cohesive, supportive group of musicians who develop their talents individually and collectively. Music was an integral part of my education experience, and I hope to instill a love and appreciation of music to all those who come into my classroom. Being in band and the responsibilities, victories and defeats that come with it can help better prepare the next generation of adults to be dedicated, cohesive and hard working.
At Norman High School, I ‘ve had the opportunity to work with students from grades 9-12, who have a range of musical abilities and experience. In addition to observing and learning from a number of excellent mentor teachers, I was given the responsibility to prepare, rehearse and conduct a piece for a concert with the Symphonic Band. I have also had experience with conducting their orchestra and concert band. Additionally, I assisted the directors on trips, rehearsals and other events. I was also slated to perform and conduct with district directors in the All-City concert.
At Alcott Middle School I gained experience teaching grades 6-8. I have developed my skills in classroom management, woodwind, brass and percussion pedagogy and rehearsal technique.
