My duties include consultation with a local school district providing supervision for a speech assistant (SLPA) and helping the school district to be compliant with state regulations for providing communication treatment.
Working here also includes outpatient evaluation/diagnosis and treatment of children with a wide range of communication disorders.
These included autism, apraxia, stuttering, aphasia, developmental delay, articulation disorders, language delay/disorders and cerebral palsy.
As part of my service here I provide augmentative/alternative communication services with use of both PECS and PODD communication devices.
In a classroom setting at Children’s Village I provided communication treatment to children with autism spectrum diagnosis.
Additionally, I have supervised over 7 speech pathology students who have accepted positions with Memorial Hospital.
